Background

Mary Help of Christians Academy was established in 1924 with 76 boarding students and 5 day students. Most of the students were orphans at that time. Currently, the academy has a small boarding program, but the majority of students are day students. Also present at the academy are summer programs for younger children in which students at the Academy volunteer their time as camp counselors.[3]

Athletics

The Mary Help of Christians Blue Jays compete in the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC), made up of private and public high schools located in Bergen County, Hudson County and Passaic County. Prior to realignment that took effect in the fall of 2010, MHCA spent one year as a member of the smaller Bergen-Passaic Scholastic League (BPSL).[4] Mary Help offers the following sports:

•Basketball

•Cheerleading

•Cross Country
